The COVID 19 pandemic forced all teachers to work from home. That is when I began teaching ESL classes for adults online. My classes are interactive and fun.
My first task is to create a rapport with the students in addition to establish what their level of understanding, speaking, reading and writing English is.
Where Do We Begin?
If you are reading this article, you have already begun. Welcome!
This website is a collection of articles, videos, and activities designed specifically for adults who want to learn English from a certified and licensed educator who specializes in teaching English as a second language.
I use a lot of pictures and Google Translate to bridge the gap between where they are in their native language and English. I encourage all of them to put themselves out there and to not be afraid to make mistakes. Mistakes are learning opportunities.
Everyone who visits is welcome to ask questions and request materials. If you’re not seeing what you’re looking for, just ask. This website is a continuous work in progress that will continue to develop based on the needs of those who want to learn.
It will evolve over time. It is designed with the students in mind..
Do you know the English alphabet, how to pronounce and use the letters? Do you understand and how to use the combination of letters in English? Can you count in English up to 20 or beyond? Are you able to write a complete sentence in English? Are you able to introduce yourself and provide basic information about yourself in English, such as:
- Your name
- Where you are from
- Where you live
- Your first language
- One thing you like to do
If you can, that’s great! Show me what you know in the comments section below.
If you can’t do any or only some of the things I asked, it’s okay, but I encourage you to show me exactly what you know or don’t know or understand.
That is the best way for me to understand you and your needs.
Where Do We Go From Here?
That depends entirely on you and your needs.
If you are able to work on your own without a teacher, you may be able to learn simply by visiting this website, and completing the activiites and worksheets provided.
Also, if you take advantage of the different free programs that are available and actually practice what you learn, you may be able to learn English for little or no money.
On the other hand, if you need direct guidance and feedback from a teacher, the question is, are you looking for individual, one-on-one instruction, or are you okay working in groups?
Free webinars and live events are available to the public. Group lessons and individual, one-on-one lessons are also available.
It’s completely up to you, your budget, and how much time you have.
I’m here to help you however I can.
The Name Of The Game Is Practice, Practice, Practice
Regardless of how you learn and whom you learn it from, if you don’t practice what you learn, you’re wasting your time.
The best instructor in the world can only do so much for you. On the other hand, a student who is proactive and serious about learning can learn regardless of how they receive instruction.
I can promise you that I will deliver as much as you can handle and more. You will learn whether you want to or not but if you want to advance, it’s is up to you to do what is necessary to make it happen.
Nobody can do it for you.
I’ve found that most students’ biggest enemy is themselves.
What do I mean by that?
Students spend too much time in their comfort zones, speaking their native language and are either afraid or unwilling to make mistakes. They seem to be waiting until they’ve mastered English before they feel comfortable using it with others and/or in public.
The truth is, you’re kidding yourself if you think that’s going to happen. It’ll never happen.
Students need to speak and/or write every single day what they are learning. The more uncomfortable it feels, the more they need to do what they feel uncomfortable about.
That’s how you learn!
It’s not only how you’ll learn English. it’s how you learn anything.
The more you practice, the more comfortable you will become.
It’s really that simple.
Here Are Some Suggestions To Get Started Right Away
There are some very good free websites that I find very helpful:
I suggest that you have a look at these sites and take advantage of some of the activities. You can establish a free account in any or all of the above mentioned sites or you can join my class on those sites. I use them often. Sometimes I assign homework. Other times, I use them for my class to play games.
There are other sites that are not free that I will post later.
If you’d like to join me in one of my classes, I suggest that you contact me through the comments section below and we can take it from there.
Although much of what I provide is free for you to use, not everything is or will be free.
Some of what is not free:
- Private one-on-one classes
- Private group classes
- Custom downloadable lessons
One thing is for sure. If you want to learn English properly and thoroughly, you’ve come to the right place.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Conclusion
Everything I do on this site is conducted on the internet through various media. This website is dedicated to teaching ESL classes for adults online.
Regardless of your native language and your level of English or lack thereof, I can and will help you if you’re willing to do the work.
Where and how we begin is up to you. I have provided some initial questions that I’d like for people to try to answer so I can learn a little about you and your level of understanding.
If you don’t understand anything at all, that’s okay. Simply say, “I speak (tell me what language you speak) and I don’t know any English”. I can and will work with you if you want my help.
There’s a lot of free material but not everything is free.
Watch YouTube video that corresponds with this lesson.
Contact me with questions or comments below. Provide as much information as you can. I will promptly respond.
Thank you for this insightful article on ESL classes for adults online. Your approach to making the classes interactive and fun sounds incredibly engaging. I appreciate the emphasis you place on practice and the various resources you’ve mentioned to facilitate learning. Could you elaborate a bit more on the free programs like USA Learns, Quizlet, and others? I’m curious to know how these integrate into your teaching methods. Also, I’d love to hear more about the personalized learning experiences you offer, especially the one-on-one classes. Looking forward to your response!
Hi dreamgirl93, thanks for your comments and questions.
Regarding USA Learns, it is an interactive site that focuses learning new words, phrases, and concepts. It has different assessment methods along the way to help students see their progress and/or to allow them to review what they don’t understand or what they get wrong.
What I like most is that it has a feature that allows students to verbalize words etc. then play it back to hear their pronunciation compared to the way it’s being presented.
Quizlet has flashcards and a variety of way, including games and assessments to that support the material being taught. All the material can be reviewed as often as is desired.
Kahoot and Quizziz are both geared toward deepening student learning in a variety of ways. Kahoot presents material in a game fashion that allows students to compete against themselves or others. Quizziz, as the name implies quizzes students to assess their learning, but it’s done in a game fashion. The difference, the competition element is about who gets the most answers correct and who can finish first. On the other hand, some students prefer to work at their own pace and not compete.
In all cases, I use the programs to facilitate class instruction as well as to assign as homework. Most, if not all the students enjoy them and learn even if they don’t want to.
Regarding private lessons, I work with students and charge an hourly rate. Students who want one-one private lessons must pay the entire hourly rate themselves. If they work in a group, the cost is divided by the number of students in the group.
I hope that answers your questions. If you have others, don’t hesitate to ask. I will promptly respond.

Hi Delmy. Thanks for your interest in my classes. There is a large number of lessons already posted here on the website. You will need to use Google Translate to read the material in your language. I don’t have any live, free lessons planned at the moment. They’ll be coming soon. I will also offer private and semi-private lessons but those are not free. What would you like help with?
Blessings, teacher, I hope you are better, we miss you a lot, see you soon 🙏
