In Lesson 1, you learned that every complete sentence has a subject, a verb, and a complete thought.
In this lesson, you will learn how to identify the subject of a sentence.
What Is a Subject?
The subject of a sentence is who or what is doing or being something.
It is usually a noun (a person, place, or thing) or a pronoun—a word that takes the place of a noun (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).
Examples

Remember
The subject tells us who or what the sentence is about.
The subject is usually at the beginning of the sentence, but not always.
Every complete sentence has a subject.
