This was really helpful because I’m currently learning English every day, and I’ve been using Duolingo to practice. It’s great for vocabulary and basic structure, but I’ve noticed my biggest problem is pronunciation sometimes I read words correctly, but they don’t sound natural when I speak.
From my experience, the more I listen and repeat, the better it gets, but I still feel like I need better tools to improve faster.
I recently learned that Duolingo is good for learning words, but not always the best for speaking and pronunciation practice, since it doesn’t give deep feedback on how you sound.
One thing I’m curious about what tools or apps would you recommend for improving pronunciation and speaking faster, especially for beginners like me?
Hi Monica, thanks for your comments. It means a lot to me to hear from real, non-English speakers as a first language. May I ask where you’re from and what your first language is?
In my class we use a paid program called Burlington English. I may buy into it myself and make it available on my website.I also use a free site. It’s not nearly as extensive but it’s good for what it is. The name of that program is USA Learns. Here is a link to a blogpost I wrote a few years ago that contains a link to the program: https://englishteacherkbob.com…
From your writing, one would never know that English is your first language. Your writing is flawless. Do you use a tool to write or do you write on your own?
